Have you heard of Novatech?
http://www.novatech.co.uk/pc/?s=5
There are some they sell up to and beyond the price you state.
If you go the "build your own route" they sell the components you would need to do that too, they are not alone, many places where you can get your needs on the web.
Just as OP have said, building your own is straight forward, it also gives you a great satisfaction feeling when you "fire" it up to know You Built That Machine

Cheers bud, will have a mooch there...

I found what I think is a bit of a monster. Is it any good?

1. i7-4820K Processor (4-cores, 10MB Cache, Overclocked up to 4.2 GHz w/ Turbo Boost)

2. Dual AMD Radeon R9 270 with 4GB GDDR5 (2x 2GB) AMD Crossfird Enabled

3. 16384MB (4x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Quad Channel

4. 256GB SSD + 1TB SATA 6Gb/s (7200RPM) 32MB Cache

5. CPU Liquid Cooling

It's probably overkill but I tend to buy a lot and then not need to upgrade for a few years.

Looks to be ok , its a fair bit higher than my OLD gaming pc , which still plays everything I throw at it .

Just the bits listed are going to cost around £700 without a case, PSU, DVD motherboard etc . those could be about 110-130 on top of the 700
all approx numbers

You got that right (monster) I recon that can handle anything thats out there today and in the next few years.
I marvel at how far things have come in the last 14 years only.
Back in Yr2000 I bought a PC, 32gig hard drive (was not far off max then) 750 Mhz CPU with 256 meg RAM plus a couple of extras £1,900 from Gateway. Ever since that I have always built my own, but no longer chasing the power.
Have fun.

It's an Alienware set up, usually I wouldn't look as I know they pricey but I may be able to get a good deal via work.
All the ancillaries are included luckily.

I'm all about paying a little more to save double long term by not needing to upgrade for years.
Tech does move so ridiculously fast, I remember a 64mb graphics card costing a few quid, now I'm looking at 4000mb lol.

So tempted to go from the Dual AMD Radeon R9 270 with 4GB GDDR5 (2x 2GB) AMD Crossfire Enabled to 4GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon™ R9 290X.

That's a card that'll last a while I'm thinking.

Most of the parts you buy will be personal preference eg Intel or Amd, SSD or platter hard drive etc..
Here is the best advice i give to all my customers (i'm an IT engineer),spend a few quid extra on a really good psu,Corsair do some great modular units,it's what drives your system (your engine if you like),it will be at least 80+ efficiency and last a good few years,i've got the same psu that has been in 4 builds and it's still really quiet and still performing flawlessly.
Shame you're not closer,i'd have help you build one.

P.s, don't forget,Windows is not the only OS out there,i have been playing with Zorin 9 the last couple of weeks, has an interface similar to windows but a lot faster with plenty of support forums and it's FREE!

Good luck with it

Jay

Thanks for the input bud!
I won't pretend to be massively PC hardware literate, I'm good on the software side though.
The PC in question is an Alienware Aurora and i'm only looking because I get a nice discount otherwise they're way out of my league. Would I be safe to assume the ancillaries like power are good on those? They seem to get very good reviews.

I've got one like this for my younger brother which we bought over a year ago and is still superfast and hasn't lost any speed.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ULTRA-FAST...item2c7fe99871

Was so good I bought a second one for my Dad last xmas, with a dual screen card which is worth getting. Just made sure it was quad core and had 16GB ram.

Don't know too much about the techy side behind them, but both have been brilliant for media and games and got them both off eBay

You should be fine with Alienware,as you will know, made by Dell to a higher standard than the rest of Dells' stuff.
