Default CDTi 160 remap - do it!

Had my CDT (131 x power) re mapped yesterday by Phil T4 (Thanks!)

Its not much faster than the 131 in my car, but there is a noticeable power increase - especially 2000-3000 rpm.

The main difference is it now drives like a modern diesel, whereas before it just didn't feel right.

From 116 to 131 to 160 in just over a year - what a transformation.

Phil also gave the car a good going over and confirmed I need a new MAF and I have a slightly low fuel rail pressure under load. Maf is unplugged for now but i'm getting a new Bosch one next.

All CDTi's should have this map... its how it was supposed to be

Its not just the extra power, its the way it responds to pedal input, it just feels more efficient. Of course if you give it a load of welly it goes about 20% better than a 131 :-) - thats just a bonus...

I've taken a year to get around to it, glad I did.

It has exposed a couple of weaknesses a bit more, namely fuel flow from the inline pump being a bit sluggish and the MAF being cream crackered. Need to sort those to get the full benefit.

I still cant believe that people have to be convinced to have this done ! , after all the positive comments about the remap it has to be a no brainer !

I can understand that but the cost would just not justify itself for me at the moment, it is something that I will get around to but other things on the car are more important at present.

No brainer, indeed, had mine done yesterday by Phil at the Milton Keynes meet and it is a completely different car today, even more pleasurable to drive.

I went from 116 to 160! The difference is like night and day.

Its roughly 5mpg more economical, initial acceleration (like pulling out of junctions) feels like the car has shed half its weight, mid range acceleration is very strong instead of sedate, and it will pull to 110 without hesitation.
On the rare occurrence that I would drive it this hard it is a bit smokey around 3,500 rpm. This maybe because I rarely take it much over 2,000 rpm.
