I can't make my mind up.....
.....about this photo' I took it just before 8 o'clock yesterday morning. Karla was sitting on the arm of my settee enjoying the morning sunshine and just looking at me. I always have a camera handy so couldn't resist taking a few shots of her. I can't help wondering though - is it too 'in your face', too much contrast between light and shade? What do you think?
One thing I've noticed when I post photo's, is a quite significant loss of quality in them. Or is it just at my end? By the way, I'm not usually up at that ridiculous time, but I had to take my lady friend, Carol, to the dental hospital in Sheffield and an early start was needed! Chad.

Hi Grumpy
For my taste the light areas on the cat are a little over exposed. This may be able to be rectified using software, it depends how much data is left on the white areas. One old photographers saying is if it does not look good you are not close enough , so I'd say distance is ok. These things are all down to personal taste of course. Well, it's a cat so I'm sold already
I agree with Paul that the highlights are a bit blown and maybe holding the camera in portraiture instead of landscape but it's a 'grab' shot and shows the cats expression well, also the background is nicely blurred, I like it Try using photobucket for hosting your photos and set it to its highest upload resolution settings.

This any better Jeff?
I think I prefer it in landscape format myself. Too much cat in portrait! Chad.

Karla looks a pretty feline. Love her grey colouring
One of the reasons I updated my camera phone to a 20.7mgp one. I agree Chad, the landscape is a better shot but overall think the picture works how it is

Hope you don't mind me saying, but pixels don't make pictures. Lenses and shutters do. A camera with a good lens and shutter will take a perfectly good picture at 3mgp and on a decent (photo') printer an A4 print would be acceptable for most purposes. Now puts on his tin hat and gets behind the barricade! Chad.

Having said that, on a phone with a fixed focal lens at least you can zoom in and chuck pixels away without losing so much detail Problem is they can suffer noise from packing all those pixels into such small sensors! I'll digress as we are veering off thread topic

I am no photographer Chad, but I think that it is a great shot.
Love the way the whiskers have come out. The cat looks like a little grey one that we have, she is a great mouser. Regarding Jeff's comment about using Photobucket there is a fantastic how to here.
