Guys

I better sign off from this thread, Mr Shed's right, the idea of the thread was for those interested to discuss the changes to the New Iphone 6.

I was really just doing a bit of baiting, seeing if I got any bites

You pays your money you takes your choice(Just apple fans pay a bit more.........you see I just can resit!! )

Problem is, we had a baiting android v iPhone thread a little while back and it all got a bit nasty
We don't want that happening again.......do we?

OK, with my semi-impartial tech head on:

iPhone
Pro's
  • Well established app store
  • Massive compatibility with accessories
  • Fast and stable
  • Great Camera

Con's
  • Poor battery lift & non-swappable
  • iTunes will cripple your PC and simply make people like me money fixing it!
  • Restricted to Apple's walled garden
  • No home screen widgets!
  • iOS is looking a little dated now

Android
Pro's
  • Huge choice of hardware to suit any requirement
  • Complete flexibility to personalise to individual tastes
  • New handsets are fast and stable

Con's
  • Too much version fragmentation
  • Custom front ends such as Touchwiz and Sense make it difficult to move from one make of handset to another.
  • Can be slow and frustrating on older low end handsets

Windows Mobile
Pro's
  • User interface is very slick and polished
  • Run's extremely well even on low end hardware
  • Cortana is very good
  • HERE maps is very good and works offline as well!

Con's
  • Massive lack of apps, doesn't even have a proper Youtube app for instance

I think that each mobile ecosystem has it's pro's and con's. I personally use Android phones however I'm also running a Windows 8.1 phone as my backup. The primary reason being that I need to be well versed is all mobile OS'es however I also find it very useful having navigation that works offline which the Windows phone does for free.

I think that some people buy iPhones just because they're mates have them which is the wrong reason however plenty of people have tried Android and just prefer iOS which is fine. When I'm asked (which happens quiet often) I'll always advise people to try both and make their own minds up. The only one I actively advise against is Windows Mobile because of the appalling app support however if they can get that sorted out I could see that even becoming my personal favourite.
