Default PCI wireless LAN card

I have been reinstalling the wireless LAN card into the pc we've started again with.

Card is a Safecom (Texas) SWLPT 54108

XP doesn't 'find new hardware' and the software won't load - a search on the web for this card shows that it has real problems with XP (do these companies ever talk to each other? ) Enough problems that I doubt I can get it working.

Can anyone recommend a good make to buy as a replacement that will work with XP easily?

I like Buffalo kit mainly for it's X platform compatibility, might be a good place to start, Don't know Windoze or PC well enough to make a proper fool proof reccomendation.

Good article.

I stopped using pci wireless cards a while back after finding a nice little USB wireless dongle on ebay for £11, although I assume your PC has a spare USB, and that your PC card was just acting as a receiver If its a main hub just ignore me

I have loads of these if you'd like me to send one down to you (fully boxed, sealed, instructions, drivers etc)

Just PM me your addy and i'll pop one in the post for ya if you need one still

I have belkin and d-link I think - prob the belkin one would be best for you as its easy to setup and use!

That sounds like a good offer from Yorki. Otherwise ASUS is a safe bet. Inexpensive, first class product. We use them at work (couple of years now) and no problems.
