Had a read through this thread and then I thought my laptop runs Windows 10 and I copied all my RAVE manuals from my old Vaio laptop and they run perfectly on the new Dell.

Its the Windows 10 feature update (version 2004) that broke it, previous versions on Win 10 are ok.

Seems that Win 10 May release 2004 caused a lot of troubles not only for this sake. There is new fix provided KB4568831. Does anybody have this fix installed and tried to run RAVE?

i am afraid its not working for me if i run the program adobe splash screen pops up as usual for around 3 seconds then nothing if i delete the 2 files then after the adobe pop up the program opens as usual but nothing on the page bar a window " Multi user security handler" Expired and if i try to open any of the pdf's the same pop up appears
Now who forgot to extract the mounted iso files then delete the acrobat files Update I can only get the rave with the 800 and others in that release to work the rest still come up with that pop up window and don’t work

Why are they selling a product that does not work, or is not compatible with windows 10 surely that makes it not fit for purpose, so should not be sold to the public?

It is DEFINITELY 100% a Win 10 update that caused the problem. I started the topic to find out, and reported it to Rimmers, who seem to have withdrawn it from sale.
Phil-T4 posted a work around here, which I can confirm DOES work: https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...9&postcount=22 Stewart |

a) Take the CD drive out of the Windows 98 machine and install it in the Windows 7 machine. b) Put the CD into the Windows 98 machine and copy the entire contents of the CD to the PC's hard drive. Then, copy them to a USB stick as well. Put the USB stick into the Windows 7 machine and copy the entire contents of Rave to the Win7 machine's hard drive. Now you can run Rave on both machines and you don't need to use the CD at all. The TData.exe file is the one that launches Rave. Quote:

Control Panel>Windows Update>View update history should give you a list of all the Win10 updates installed. Double-click on one to find more info on it. Once you've found the offender, uninstall it via Control Panel>Programs & Features>Installed Updates>(right click on offending update & uninstall). The full Windows catalogue should be here - https://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx. Last edited by Blink; 29th September 2020 at 16:13.. |
