Scanning Photies
I've just tried to scan some photos & they just come out black with very little detail, I've done it before & it worked but that was a year or 2 ago. What am I doing wrong???

Have you selected reflective material in your scanner software. What you report could be that it is set for transparencies. Also try changing the resolution you are scanning at. That can be resized with software once you have it.

This usually happens if the wrong type of document is selected in the scanning window eg: If you were scanning a Black & White photo, you should select Greyscale & not Black & White otherwise it will just scan in the 2 colurs (Black & White) instead of Shades of Grey (which is what Black & White photos are made up of !) Colour will also work of course. If you are using the Full Auto mode then the Scanner should detect the type of Document/Photo. If it is not functioning in Full Auto mode, I would disconnect the Scanner from the computer, uninstall any associated drivers, then re-install preferably using the latest drivers from the manufacturers website. If this still fails, the Scan Head may have a fault which is an internal error. Hope this helps in some way Regards Mike |

Aha sorted it now trying to get them on here, I'm using the photobucket method but they are taking forever to upload onto there

How big is the file?
For display on screen the resolution only needs to 72dpi, you may find your scans are at 300. |

There is a resize option on Photobucket. But it is quicker to resize before you upload on a slow PC..
My d/load speed can be anything up to 8 mb but upload is always the same approx .4 mb... . |
