Default End of a Love Affair! Really Loved Her!

I've struggled to post but it might be that I am not allowed because I have only a basic membership.

Initial signs of HGF failure. Still runs and drives OK. Cannot justify the £600-£800 cost of new head gasket (Skimming etc). I am not a DIY person. Feel really sad and would be devastated if I have to dispose of the car to someone who will scrap it. Trying to find a part/ex deal somewhere but that's no guarantee a dealer would not scrap it. Would much prefer it going to a member. In the current HGF state the Alpine Radio CD and Alpine I-Pod Converter Box in glove compartment is probably worth more than the car. Have to sign-off before I start blubbering at the keyboard.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I'd be really upset too if I had to get rid... And I've only owned mine for half a year. There are some very knowledgeable and helpful people on the forum who I hope will come along and offer some advice. I would ask myself should I spend the money to repair a car I love... Or have to spend the money on a whole new car that I don't know. I guess it depends on the condition of the car and of course personal circumstances. Wishing you all the best.

I was just going to say that.
Sounds like an unwanted job quote to me.

There are several Mobile Mechanics that will do that at home and at a lesser cost and know the K series inside out. Contact one of them

2nd that. I know of members up here who have used one of them with no complaints, unfortunately I can't remember the company. Sure they even carried a spare head just in case.

Might be worth giving MJS auto and marine a call for a quote. I know they're mobile but not sure how far they travel.
