Default Removing the gearstick surround from centre console

Hi - is it possible to remove the entire surround, not just the gaiter? I've done a forum search and can't find any reference and don't want to dive in with a sharp blade and damage anything.

The reason is that I'm thinking about adding a built-in 2x USB charging socket to the forward left of the stick where it's easy to get to thereby leaving the ciggie socket free for dashcam in future.

You very carefully flip it out using a flat blade screwdriver.

As above , and when it has been released you can pop off the trim that holds the gaiter in place and manoeuvre it over the gear knob ,

Thanks both, sounds simple as I hoped. Might have a go when I fit my just-ordered compensator.

Might be even easier and very quick to plug in a double outlet to the existing cigarette socket. No cutting ,pushing, pulling ,tugging etc.--
