Removing the gearstick surround from centre console
Hi - is it possible to remove the entire surround, not just the gaiter? I've done a forum search and can't find any reference and don't want to dive in with a sharp blade and damage anything.
The reason is that I'm thinking about adding a built-in 2x USB charging socket to the forward left of the stick where it's easy to get to thereby leaving the ciggie socket free for dashcam in future. |

You very carefully flip it out using a flat blade screwdriver.

As above , and when it has been released you can pop off the trim that holds the gaiter in place and manoeuvre it over the gear knob ,

Thanks both, sounds simple as I hoped. Might have a go when I fit my just-ordered compensator.

Might be even easier and very quick to plug in a double outlet to the existing cigarette socket. No cutting ,pushing, pulling ,tugging etc.--
