Default Had to call RAC out.......

Drove to birmingham to visit family in my 75 CDT. Drove there fine started first time no problem. Went to leave and wouldnt start, checked battery and that was fine. It would crank but wouldnt fire. It has a k&N filter on it as well as an egr delete. RAC came out they told me suspect fuelling issue. Car has 3/4 of a tank of shell v power nitro plus diesel in it. I also have the ABS light on but when they scanned my car there was no fault code for abs. He sprayed something into the air intake and it started but i dont know if id need it diagnosing properly with a T4. Can anyone help or advise? Im changing the fuel filter today to see if that has any effect.

Cam / crank sensor could be the cause, did it want to start again when cool?

I think there has been other members on 'Power Diesel' who have had rough running and starting problems in the past too.

As above, I would check injectors, cam and crank sensors and unplug the MAF sensor too.

If you are not too technically minded, why not see if a local member can help?

My vote would be injectors or another HP fueling issue - definitely time for a leakback test.

Cam and crank sensors are fine. Ill try unplugging the MAF and spray some MAF cleaner on it too. If i knew someone in the area or local who had a t4 id go there and use it. It starts and drives fine and doesnt mind short journeys but when i go on a long journey which is once a week about an hour after i arrive and try to go back out in it it wont start.

I wouldn't use the MAF cleaner, you may do more damage than good..

There are two fuel pumps, you need to check both are working. The two sensors mentioned by Klarzy, plus doing a leakback test on the injectors.

The spray used by the breakdown guy, will have been Easystart, sprayed into the intake.

If you know nothing about cars, then here is your opportunity to begin to learn. The best guy to fix a car, is they guy who drives it.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.
