Default Winter Tyres...... or ...

.... snow shoes or chains..... ?

http://www.express.co.uk/news/nature...ic-snow-freeze

Or give up driving and stock up with food & fuel ?

Whatever, the prospects look bleak, and with leaves falling rapidly over the last few days from trees, they seem to think that an early hard winter is coming as well

Constantly changing - removing/replacing chains or shoes will be a major issue in mid winter. So I think we are better going with winter tyres...

Actually I run on Uniroyal rainmasters all year round, they have never let me down yet.... *touches wood*... innit...

Thanks Andrew for the alert. We are stocking up with tinned food, powdered milk, powdered mash and will get in rechargeable torches and extra gas canisters for the camping stove in case of power cuts. It's best to be prepared in case of panic buying etc.

I am wondering if the 'all season' tyres are up to the job?

A long-range weather forecast is one that extends into the next week. Anything further ahead is purely guesswork - you'd be better off with a forecasting stone.

Think I'd be thinking the new Michelin Cross Climate, A&C ratings summer and winter, as good as winter tyres, but you use all year round, advert is currently on TV

all 4 cars will be getting their winter boots once the temperature drops, remember winter tyres are not just for snow but for temps below 8-10 degrees

if you need chains you shouldnt really be trying to go anywhere unless its just to get off the drive
