Advice: TF itch
Guys,
I have an itch for a 'different' car...something fun, and my thoughts have turned toward a TF. Can any members offer advice and pointers please...warts an' all? Does anyone know of such for sale...that they are happy to recommend? (Ideally 'local' to me in Liverpool) ta, Sid

Rich17865 - a trusted and learned friend on here has commented to similar effect. Although it has to be noted he is about 6' 2" with silly long legs, whereas I am a 'shortar*e' with a 30" inside leg!

After having a couple, tbh the mx5 is a better car, more reliable, comfortable and better to drive...
But I still love them |

Another trusted member Jim (Vindaloo) recommended an MX5...I hanker after another Smart Brabus Coupe, alas they are just out of budget...unless I sell my 75 that is!(?)

I've had an MGF, and a TF. Very nice cars indeed with plenty of character. The 'F' had a lovely ride, but the handling was a bit dubious. For example if you powered into a corner it had a tendency to go straight on. Normal driving this wouldn't really notice however. Then with the TF they did away with the hydragas suspension for normal shock absorbers, and the handling is very much better. However the ride is quite choppy.
Great looking cars, personally I think the F looks the best. Reliability wise they are generally pretty reliable, obviously if you're not careful they can suffer the same HGF as with all K series engines. The MX-5 is perhaps the superior car, but the MG has the heritage. |
