Default Used BEV's now selling faster than used petrol cars

Blimey! Autotrader UK says used EV's are now selling faster than used petrol cars. I thought this would have happened further down the road than now. https://insideevs.com/news/552030/uk...evs-sell-fast/

As the article is based on average time on the forecourt, it must have a lot to do with the smaller number of EV available.

Also the effect of the introduction of the new Low Emissions zones..

We went to London yesterday and I did not notice any increase in the amount of Electric vehicles. They are still in the minority, in the car park we used I did not see one.

It must because they are a bit of a nightmare and people want to sell them on.

I think there may be some truth in that, Bob. Apparently many people are finding the range between charges a bit more of a bugbear than they had calculated.

LOL according to the Autotrader the Gen 1 Nissan Leaf is the best selling used EV. That model has been around since 2010 & some of the ones have a very low range.
Lots of new models out next year so I should think the used market will have more of a choice to choose from.

Yes I've read that a few people have found the range in the recent cold spell has dropped more than they expected especially if they're doing motorway speeds with the heater on.
Quite a few people are trading their MG ZS EV in for the recent facelift model with a bigger battery & longer range.

I have one nagging thought at the back of my mind . . . . are the current generation of BEVs the equivalent of the Squariel or betamax video

A friend of the wife has a Jaguar I pace, its actually her husbands but he found the range was so bad he started using her car as she only has a 100 round mile trip to work.

She has to charge it every night and when the weather is bad she says the range anxiety is terrible and often gets home with less than 20 miles left. It has got to the point where she will be swapping it in for a ICE powered vehicle in the new year. The Jaguar dealer is not interested in taking it back as a PartEx unless they want to take a big loss as they apparently have quite a few already.

I hope things get a lot better in the next 9 years or a lot of people will be holding on to there existing vehicles. It makes you wonder if it would be a good idea to buy a few ICE powered vehicles while you still can and store them away.

Expensive paper weights up here. 8 days and counting. Thank goodness the Army and SSE don’t have any.
