Default Help needed and advice. Kv6 mg ztt

Hi there. My ztt has water gathering behind drivers side floor. Had my sunroof checked and seems watertight. Battery was losing charge and car wouldn't start. Got the alternator checked and is fine. Now the alarm was going off and the window wipers were working on there own and car is dead. Disconnected battery. Is anyone able to help me out. Either have a look or if I can get it to start where's best to take it? Any help or advice much appreciated cheers. Regards Chris

There are several places to check for water ingress on the tourer.

1. (Involves rear bumper removal) the rear vents leak around the foam seals that are fitted either side of the car behind the rear bumper.

2. The waistline trim clips can leak

3. Between the roof panel and the rear panel right up where the main tailgate hinges are.

4. Front and rear sunroof drain tubes ( left and right )

Hi Chris,

You have a range of evidence here which we need to consider carefully.

The battery drain could be caused by the alarm and windscreen wipers activity. As Billy advised, remove the plenum cover on the NS. The alarm horn is in there and water could leak into the passenger side on top of the BCU which controls the wipers.

Whilst you're there, check the OS plenum drain as well. It's partially hidden underneath the brake servo. A blockage here (leaves etc) may be the cause of the water on the driver's side floor.

Buy or borrow a smart charger and connect it for 30 hours to recharge the battery. Do this without delay.

Simon

Default More info on plenum

Hi guys. Checked the plenum on the passenger side and unblocked as it was blocked. The driver side one has sludgy leaves in it and was quite blocked up. Regards the driver side is there a drain as can't see it. Does the water run across the plenum chamber whilst driving and find its way out of the one drain or is there 2 on the lower. Also can I just remove the bung or is it needed? I've cut some mesh and put around the bonnet sides to stop some of the NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- getting in. Regarding the leak on the drivers side how would it get into the car from the plenum chamber? Through the pollen filter the other side/passenger or is there something behind the servo on drivers side it can get into the cabin? I have done the spy hole mod. Cheers guys for the help. Kind regards Chris
