Default Netbook

I am trying to drag myself into the 21st century and just bought a Samsung 10" netbook as I am away more and more nowadays. The thought of dragging around a 17" laptop was too much so opted to get another way of getting on the net.

Its a great little machine and quicker than my laptop which is only 18 months old. I am transfering my music from my lappy onto the netbook via a memory stick everything works fine and the music transferred properly.

Having never had a memory stick before as I had no need of one I now have a question. The memory stick is 4gb and the average album is around 80mb does this mean that this little £6.99 stick will hold 50 albums?

I must have that wrong surely?

If the size of an album is 80MB it will hold between 40 and 50 Albums. (due to 1GB not being 1,000,000,000 Bytes)

Welcome to the 21st Century.
Net books do seem handy for some but I can't go around without at least a 15" Laptop.

Thanks John

I did weigh up getting a netbook or a smaller lappy but decided on the netbook because its smaller and does the same job plus its easier to carry around

One thing is strange, on the lappy my Tmobile mobile broadband runs at 1mb speed but on the netbook it runs at 3mb. Also my lappy runs my home AOL connection at 5mb speed but the netbook runs it at 6.5mb. Both speeds have been tested on pc pitstop broadband tester. Why would that be?

what OS is the netbook using?

I know windows has some overheads but thats quite a bit.

also have you a virus scanner and firewall running on one and not the other. this can affect download speeds.

My lappy is Vista and the netbook is xp. Both AVG and Zone alarm running on both machines.

I have tried the tests three times and both machines tested within seconds of each other and every test comes out about the same.

I am happy with the netbook speed obviously but it would be nice to have the same speed on the lappy if possible.

I must have a program somewhere on the lappy thats stopping it getting its full speed out of the broadband. Of course I shouldn't moan about it being 5mb as a lot of people would love that speed
