Diesel ABS same as petrol type?
I am getting desperate to put the car back on the road after a flooding rendered it not useable three months ago (needs MOT now).
I have a two litre petrol connie with ALL lights on after a flood, ABS, Park brake, and traction control. As it is similar fault to a previous "dosing" I am assuming the CANBUS wires/connections OR PINS in the ABS plug at fault. Of course I may be wrong! The plenum was dry at the time. It also at the time of the flooding had a speedo not working and of course the wipers going into intermittent mode as if stationary. The question is as there are plenty of ABS with TC for diesels ..... Are they the same? Any help or advice will be welcome. The car is too good and unique(to me anyway) to break.

Where in Dorset are you? Pm me if you don't want to put a town up.
If you need some help, and not too far, I could come over and have a look with / for you. I have a spare abs ecu and loom plug... Chris

If you have TC then the ABS unit is not interchangeable between petrol and diesel.
Diesel ABS + TC modulators are quite rare. |

Thanks for the replies folks.
Chris I am just outside Blandford, Iwerne Minster to be exact, and if your in the area you would be most welcome. The car is in my workshop in Pimperne just outside Blandford, on stilts at the moment as I did intend to check out all wheel sensors and any thing else I can find, but recent events have blocked that! As the MOT is well out of Date now and the car SORN'd you will appreciated that driving it anywhere is a No-No, which is a shame as it did run perfectly .... just had all these lights looking at me! I feel like I am isolated ... Rover P5 Coupe' in the paint shop (for a long time now) and the 75 off the road, just relying now on a Lexus SUV which is fine but just not the same....

Hi Fella,
Not sure I will be that far across for some time to come, may be worth just trying a non-traction abs unit, and seeing if that helps - they are around £20 on the bay of fleas. It should at least put some of the lights out (hopefully) And if needed, then I am sure I can come over and downgrade your car to not believe in traction control anymore Chris
