Cdti auto starting not starting
Hi my auto estate runs great but failed to start yesterday battery was fine not even a click at starter motor , after putting it in drive pushed it back it started fine
Would this be the camshaft sensor and if so are they easy to change If not what else should I begin checking Many thanks |

I am assuming of course it was in either P or N when you tried to start it? If it was in one of those positions, check what is lit up on the selector display, both on the dash and the gear selector.

1st job if battery is good.
Get your hand on the starter motor and waggle the smaller connection for the selonoid. Female connector to male. It could be a bad contact . It happened to me 3 weeks ago. I should have realised When I had been turning the key recently their was a micro second before the engine turned. It been fine since (less my clutch packed up) lol

Change the contacts & plunger in the starter motor, and you will have no more trouble if you don't one morning or when you have travelled somewhere and you come back to start the car it will not turn over.

Hi thanks for info
Now did I do anything the answer is no Used the auto Saturday started fine , and for the first time used N to start her Sunday it turned over in P didn’t quite start when again on key and nothing have moved it on drive not made a difference , made sure it’s displaying either P or N If I remember correctly if it’s the starter motor at fault you usually get a clicking and I’ve changed the copper components on this before When the mot was carried out a few weeks ago I got them to drain off the auto fluid and top up with fresh ( approx 3 litres was used ) Will go and have a play with starter motor connections |
