I think you'll find that other MG-Rover fora handle this information in a similar way.
I know, I do the same over at the two-sixties (more because it's an unwritten rule than anything else), but now it's out in the public domain (just do a google) why not post an how-to? (which I won't do unless there is an agreement between forums, or fora?)

People who want to steal a car (or part of it) won't go through the bonnet, they just take the whole car

Default Rover 75 Bonnet Cable broken.

Hi, I have a 54 reg. Rover 75 SE Diesel Automatic.
The Bonnet release cable has broken, and the battery is flat.
I need to release the bonnet so I can jump start the engine, and repair/replace the release cable.

I know this is sensitive information so I hope one of the moderators could email me the answer.

I hope you can help me

Hello folks. I have an oddly related problem. I can open the bonnet but (a) the bonnet release is sticking out of the recess in the cabin and (b) the bonnet has become very difficult to shut again! It still opens at a pull of the lever but I know it shouldn't feel 'loose' or stick out like that (it never used to). I have reversed the connecting block that holds the three cables and they all look like they're in good condition so what do I need to check/fix now please?
Cheers
Dale

I did a lot of fiddling about under the bonnet and found the offside catch was sticking. A lot of WD40 and moving the cable in and out repeatedly got it sort of fixed but when I open the bonnet the lever still goes slack. Any help? Anybody? Please?

Thanks, I'll give it a go!

Just did as you suggested, and it's worked. Many many thanks indeed.

Post 285 of this tread shows how they should be greased.

Post 288,289 290.shows why greaseing from the front dosen't reach the cable.where they snap at the nipple through rust.

Again, thank you. Your advice worked. I now need to pick a day to remove the bumper etc and give the whole thing a proper service! Thanks again, a good lesson learned!

Default Bonnet will not release.

Hi, May I join the list of people suffering this problem!

I would be grateful if some kind Mod would PM me with the method of release.

Thanks.

Greg.
