Checking for factory wiring for electric leather seats
Hi everyone.
I've bought a set of electric heated leather seats for my 2004 1.8 Petrol Classic SE 75. Now, from what I've read, some cars have the wiring from factory regardless of seats fitted. I know the wires are supposed to be below the seats and heated switches behind the panel below the heater control panel. I've checked behind this panel but can't seem to see anything. Should it be fairly easy to spot or is it well hidden? Also, is the seat wiring below the carpet or will it be loose below the seat? I was just wanting to do a check without having to take the front seats out in case I need to drive somewhere to get the bits and pieces needed to make a homemade set. Thanks in advance, Rķan |

Hi Rian,
If you do have the wiring, you'll have a large black 8 pin connector plug under each seat. it just sits lose below the seats. If you don't have the wiring, I've written up a how to guide here on making your own wiring loom for the seats: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=253123 |

Hi Rick,
hmm I couldn't see the 8 pin connecter below the seats so maybe as feared I don't have the original wiring. And yes I've seen, and had a good read through your 'How To' which I must say is very well wrote, and easy to follow. This just means that I'll have to set aside a bit more time for fitting. With regard to plumbing the electrics in, how would you go about making the seats only come on with ignition? I seen a reply on one of the threads about a relay? thanks, Rķan P |

If you want them to be ignition live then you can either take your power feed from the ignition in the steering column or if you can use a fuse tap and take the power from the auxiliary slots in the fuse box behind the glove box as those slots are ignition live

What are auxillary slots? Are they just spare slots? |

same thought
Hi Rian,
I'm trying to do the same myself and got a set of electric leather seats off Ebay that 'will fit Rover 75'. I'm sure I have an 8 pin socket in the car, but have just checked the seats and there is only a 4 pin plug, a row of 3 with a single below it. These seats are not heated though. I'm wondering if I've bought incompatible seats? Do your seats have 4 or 8 pin plugs under them? Thanks

As long as you have the wiring in the car loom the seats will fit, even if they only have four of the eight connections populated, as some have memory other do not. Electric seats are fitted at the nano on a regular basis, also the looms are available most of the time if you do not have it in your car already, well worth a trip, maybe not from Ireland though, to far I am thinking but if not you are always welcome

The black plug on the base of mines is the same as yours. 3 on the top and 1 on the bottom. There's another black plug but there's a yellow block pushed into it. But going by what Arctic says, it's probably due to my seats not being memory. Hope you get yours fitted! |
