Does anyone know if the seals in this kit would fit the OEM master ( ie 5/8")?

Which master?
I suspect it's a negative for either though. TC |

The original plastic master cylinder for a 1.8 NA. I would have thought that there should be a supplier for standard sizes of piston seals somewhere out there. It's usually the piston seal that goes. I can remember buying piston seal kits years ago but repairing things seems to have gone out of the window in modern times. (Unit replacements only).

I guess you mean the clutch master?
If so, I think you'll find it difficult to find a seals kit. It they were availble, everyone would fit them rater than buying expensive cylinders complete. TC Last edited by T-Cut; 8th September 2016 at 10:23.. |

I think it's a well trodden path, but remember to report back if you succeed.

Thanks for the pics. It's the front seal that is under the greatest pressure. The rear is just a wiper. If I can get the measurements (or an old cylinder to measure), I may be able to source seals from a hydraulic seal manufacturer. The piston looks fairly simple to dismantle and reassemble, so if the cylinder bore is not worn, the seals should be replaceable. The seal should be the first to wear, being the softest material.

beware the dreaded insurance wiggle should they discover a non oem service kit or work done on a non user serviceable part...
I know, but it has to be said these days

To me the weak point is the valve which may collect débris from the slave (the pressure returns to the reservoir) After cleaning ,no more leak : Mike Last edited by FrenchMike; 9th September 2016 at 06:56.. |
