The epithets of 'racism' are becoming hackneyed beyond ridicule. Not unlike saying because clouds are other than white they must be racist clouds. For Pete's sake, please adopt adulthood.
Oh, and do grow up. UK is the most accepting and inviting of genuine immigrants in the world. Just ask our Border Force how many they rescue from death in the Channel. Everyday.

Germany has always welcomed foreign labour, those there by choice or compulsory. We stood alone before defying the dictatorial continental attitudes, Napoleon, Third Reich and have done so again with Brussels.

They certainly have. Anyone remember the TV series Auf Weidersehen Pet? Very popular in Germany as I recall. Trouble is, given today's ridiculous pressure groups it would be regarded as racist. Only trouble is the racists would inevitably be us. Talk about a one way street. At last, we have started the long day's march back to reality. By the left.....

A stand-out bit of that for me was the excellent Jimmy Nail using the expression 'Erics' as a colloquial for his hosts and benefactors. In no way dismissive or disrespectful, certainly not as much as 'little Englanders' or others probably best not to mention, what with the filter set to the equivalent of a Marshall volume 11.

Just seen on GB News Kate Hoey v. Michael Heseltine revisiting the subject.
Heseltine, all resentment and mocking, still sticking to the doom laden prophesies he was peddling at the height of it. Ridiculing everything that has happened and dismissing the Australian arrangement and any possibility of others in the pipeline in a fit of anger. Kate Hoey speared him with ease and gave chapter and verse about our independence from the dogma of the EU masters and the impossibility of getting anything done with 28 other governments to appease. What an embarrassing yesterday’s man he is. It wouldn’t surprise me if, no, better not say it, they might bring Alec Guinness back as Smiley to haunt.

Dave "ashamed to be British"? I guessed that from most of you posts. You could apply for membershit of a EU country? Chris S.

In some respects I’m ashamed to be British. I remain a good European and feel that Brexit will be finally judged as a huge mistake.

Good luck with that, the odds don't seem in your favour. Do tell, what aspects are you ashamed of?

Quote:
'Brexit' is history (we are all independent and British citizens now) and the movement to depart the EU has been effected. Get over and get on with it or have the courage of your convictions and remember you are free to jump ship and go to any one of the other 27 EU states (soon to be a Federation.... and then a ??). I would have happily and blithely been a fully signed up member of the free trading EEC had the political agenda not been forced ahead. The treaties of Maastricht and Schegen made the inevitable direction of travel very clear and that for me was the final nail in the EU coffin. |
