Default Dieselgate MkII !

Blimey! Jaguar landrover recalling 44000 vehicles over emissions on top of yesterdays news that FCA (Fiat Chrysler automobiles) are recalling 860000 over emissions

I suspect every manufacturer had deployed sophisticated emissions management algorithms. The only question is how many of them sailed so close to the wind that they are in the position of recalling vehicles.

Any idea what they intend to do with them ??

If it's serious that's a lot of MOT failures.---

I don't know exactly what's going to happen to those cars as FCA owned up to doing it instead of being found out! but it's going to get very spendy for them.

Cant say I feel sorry for them as they've had five years notice of impending lower emission cuts starting from 2021 through 2030 where the average fleet emission limits will have to be 60g/km CO2 for new cars which will more than likely mean all cars will have to electrified in one way or another.
My Kia Niro hybrid comes in at 95g/km so this model will be redundant.

Edit: this is a good piece as to what the motor industry is up against. https://www.wintonsworld.com/geneva-...ustrys-future/

The manufacturers are not that worried about emissions once the car is MOT'd. The chances it will get through its first MOT with little or no trouble and once the next MOT is due it will be out of warranty so not there problem.

The way MOST manufacturers look after cars under warranty there is probably little chance of them fixing even it fails while under warranty.

I know of a 5 year old Diesel Renault at the moment that is on its 4th retest for emissions. The dealer has changed a lot of stuff and the bill so far is over £2k, if it does not pass this time I suspect the owner is going to give up on it as the main dealer is offering a good deal on a new one and will buy the old one back at a good price even though it does not have a MOT.
