ABS issues. Please someone help.
ABS Issues…….
My cowley is having a light display with th e abs light. The abs light has been coming on recently and going off. Never really thought much of it until recently it came on and my speedo stopped working. I got a new sensor and fitted it. The light went out all good. I didn’t feel happy with how the breaking felt still. A little crunchy still. Not long after driving the abs light came back on. I took it home and put the car on a basic code reader. It came up with code ‘17 – front right wheel speed sensor, line’. So that’s the sensor I have just changed. The plastic plug was broken so I found in my spares a spare wiring plug so I cut the old one off and soldered the replacement on. This made it worse. Light on and no speedo. So I managed to get the old connector back on and the light stayed on but speedo working so that will do for now. Took it to work this morning and the light wasn’t on but within 5 minutes of driving the abs light came back on and stayed on but speedo is still working. Could anyone help with this as its getting very annoying. Thank you.

it sounds like the sensor is playing up even though you have changed it, did you use a quality sensor, as some after market ones do not work. I am told DMGRS sell decent ones that are supposed to work, also genuine ones from Rimmer bros. Seeing as the speedo is working it is not pointing to the bearing at the moment, but are you getting any crunching of the brakes at low speeds 5/10mph if so then it could be the front bearing so do not rules that out.

I normally get the GDMRs ones but I needed one tat day as the speedo wasn’t working so I got one from my local auto parts store ( I trust them and they do decent stuff the owner has a 75 v8 so knows what he’s doing)
With the different wiring plug the speedo wasn’t working. Put the old wiring plug on and it works. The crunching is strange as when the abs light is not on, I get it and when the light is not on I don’t get any crunching

That's what I was thinking.
If the light is on you won't get any pedal fluctuation as the abs is disabled, when the light is out the abs is functioning and the pedal fluctuation is due to a bearing or a sensor playing up. Its normally the rears when this happens.

Maybe worth a visit to Big Russ at Liversedge - only a snip up the M62 from you - he will put her on a T4 - drop him a PM.
