All the clutches on these cars tend to be a bit on the heavy side,as for bite being about an inch from the floor ! I would suggest you try and bleed it ,not an easy job but plenty of advice and "How to,s" on this site

I always thought the lower to the floor the better. Mine is (was) only about an inch from the floor, but it's currently having teh master/slave/clutch unit investigated so maybe not the best example!!!!

And yes a heavy clutch on a diesel is normal.

Mine wasn't slipping at all, but it was starting to get tricky selecting 1st and reverse gear. Sometimes I had to double clutch it to get it in, especially reverse, my neighbours must have wondered why it took me so long to reverse in the driveway.

How many miles has it done?

Notchy?

I don't want to sound alarmist, but thats what mine felt like immediately before it went.

Mine has done just over 79000 so if you've got to 104 on the original clutch assembly I'd say that was good going!! However if you've just bought the car you don't want to be doing such a big job.

Hopefully a bleed will sort it out. Good luck!!!!
