mk1 75 launch car with serpants in wedgewood all day. mk2 75 grille a no no for me. I like both versions of the zt.

Pre-facelift every time for me. Much prefer the 'separate' twin headlights and the additional chrome bumper inserts on the 75. Even on the ZT I think the bumper inserts look right, albeit that they're colour coded to the body.

I have mixed opinions on Mk1 / Mk2.
Generally speaking I prefer the Mk1, but think the Mk2 ZT in Firefrost looks awesome. |

I have both, but I always feel that the first incarnation of any car, whatever make, is generally preferable, as the majority of the styling and work has gone into that. The one exception I can think of is the Triumph 2000, where the Mk2 is 100% better, which is why I have two instead of one of each!

I think its the quality of mk2s rather than styling most people have an issue with, for me, I mostly prefer mk1s but mk2s are an equally stunning car and with so many owners upgrading them anyways its not really an issue any more. Thats before you get into Premium bumper, Roewe / mg 7 bumpers and so on.
IMO mk2 75 tourers unquestionably look better than a mk1 tourer in dark colours, but in light colours the mk1 tourers look best. Example is my own mk1 into mk2 tourer. I always said I wouldnt buy a mk2 tourer but would convert one, and it happened I got a mk2 in same colour, so stripped it and went from mk1 to mk2. (Which I had cowley'd as you can see by the sills due to damage) IMO the mk2 tourer rear end looks the best from the entire range, with the "ROVER" lettering displayed proudly on the boot, my led number plate lights them up nicely. However ive the interior now a full mix of 75 and zt, so for me shes my ultimate hybrid of how the cars should look. Well until my roewe bumper gets painted. HOWEVER, im a big believer that mk1 saloons generally are nicer looking than mk2s as standard. HOWEVER, thats with cars with xenon / projector lights. IMO the standard clear halogen lights do the car no favours at all and age the car far more than the retro styling ever will. Ive been lucky to own dozens of 75 and zts now some ive kept, most ive sold for a quick profit and maybe 1/3 ive broken, of various colours and specs and these are some of my favorites that I no longer own. And nearly every one of them is a mk1. Copperleaf mk1 75 Anthcrite mk1 zt Starlight Silver mk1 75 Moonstone Green mk1 75 And with 2 white gold tourers in my back garden and the mk1 ztt also, I think you could say thats my preference. BUT only just. Ive always said if I have a monogram it will be a mk2!

Mk 1 by miles, I would just say though, that Peter Stevens worked wonders with the 50p that MGR gave him to do the facelift, especially when he wasn't allowed to change any sheet metal.

Mk1 styling seems to flow better imho, mk2 bumpers are too angular for my taste, also much prefer the twin headlamps and the mk2 grille just doesn't look right. All this is on 75's because the MG models seem to be able to wear both designs well and as said colour can make a vast difference.
