I have a post running on Talk Photography too and it was said that 800 iso is about the limit? I agree that frame rate isn't everything on the 5D2 but when your used to 8 maybe 3 is a drop, plus the reach that I would lose? how do you find noise ninja, is it better than photoshop or LightRoom?
Thanks

Hi Mark,

I have the new firmware on my 7d and you can set the max Iso so you don't push it to far but I go to 3200 all the time and without pixel peeping find the results really not bad at all.
I use noise ninja because it was my first intro into noise reduction and it works for me :-)
I'm sure ps would give you the same results as well.

I use LR3 but I'm told LR4 is much better. When you shoot sports do you use One focus point and recompose, multi points or manual?

Bit of both

Single spot point expansion with ai servo for cars coming towards me and usually manual focus for panning shots.
I've yet to use Lightroom but I am tempted for speed of workflow.
Cs5 is a bit slow and over complex for me for the type of photography I do.

I have been using single point focus as it's supposed to be sharper (If I get it in the right place lol) with Ai servo and high speed shutter. I probably use LR 90% of the time and just then use PS to clone, crop etc

I use lightroom for about 85% of the time and sometimes dip into photoshop when things get tough. My camera is always set with single spot A/F for the good reason that I like it that way. My cheapo Pentax KR is great in low light.
I don't know one end of a Canon from the other.

The cheaper end of the DSLR market and the Bridge and Compact market are awash with good makes. Every few months I have a look and a new model and maker looks best, yet in those sectors I have never picked out at Canon or Nikon as favorite.

Mid to high end DSLRs however, Canik come into their own. There are a few other good options but the big two have great range off accesories and lenses.

Pentax make some excellent mid/high end DSLR's which I think are every bit as good as the Canon/Nikon yet if I had the money I would most likely get a Canon/Nikon.

I've always wanted a Nikon and I have no idea why.

This post is of course completely of no use to the OP

Hi Paul,

I've got a yearning for some new glass again, it happens every few months or so
I've had the 120-300 f2.8 for at least a few months, must be time for something else
I'll never get me an Mg V8 with all those lovely lenses out there saying 'buy me'
Cars and cameras, expensive hobbies aren't they!

And this post doesn't help either ! Oops , back on topic.
Just blow the lot on a 1d x and tell the Mrs, oh that old thing, it's been in my camera bag for ages....

Will this be for the cars again?

I get the yearning and then start looking at reviews and prices. I am still hopeful of father christmas bringing me a 90mm macro. I am lucky in that the subjects I shoot do not call for quick glass and I can keep the cost down. At the moment if I can't get the shot I get the tripod out or give up muttering about my lrns choice Lol. Good job I don't do it for a living.
