For any of you who wonder what it is like on a power station here is some video I made of the last day of generation of Meaford ' B' Power Station at Stone, Staffordshireon 28/09/90. I dealt with demolition of same for work culminating with the demolition of the brick built 408' tall chimney on the 9th June 1996

I used to have a job as a cleaner at Ironbridge B. The noise and coal dust was incredible. I wore all the safety gear unlike most did back in the late sixties. Lots of memories. The mask filters were black at the end of every day, and I'm very glad I didn't breathe much of that stuff in! Very interesting place, especially for a young student. I think the turbines were 500Megawatts. Over 130db at the noisiest part of the turbine hall.

Drove down M6 from Cumbria yesterday and saw many a wind vane, all stationary!
