Water Pump
I have a leak from the thermostat housing. Got the new housing and seals to be fitted by my mechanic.
The question is at 190k is it worth changing the water pump as well? I read they don't generally cause too much trouble but as he is in doing the seals would doing the whole pump / thermostat assembly be the right thing to do? Would this add much to the labour bill ? |

Usually I'd recommend replacing it as you are in there but my original water pump failed just shy of 300k miles, and the replacement Circoli pump from ECP only lasted 65k miles.
So at 190k miles you may be better off keeping the original. With the belt off you can check the water pump pulley for leakage, play and roughness, and if there isn't any then if it was me I'd leave it. |

Thanks, I will get him to check it with the belt off and if ok will be best left alone.
