I'm no really sure on reliability yet - but my 1.8t is Good Fun fast (enough) smooth and quiet. the only other applications of the 1.8t K-series i know of are race ready cars can't be that bad can it
they do like a lot of attention tho my experience has been Good r.e actual reliability - I've had issues that i inherited when i bought the car - even with HGF at 70,000 miles the car still ran great (i lost coolant to the oil and noticed the moment it happened - ipk coolant temp display ) i've had the repair work done - belts, water pump etc.. all Good so far after 1000 miles, time will tell. for me Diesel and Rover = ............ I've a confession to make - "I think the Rover k-series 1.8t is a Good engine" - it's biggest problem is the coolant system, it's lacking in volume for the engine - keep an eye on it along with oil and the "reputation" shouldn't be a problem.
