Swapping wheels
Is it possible to swap my 17" 'serpent' wheels for a 16" type with no problems? I assume with the larger profile tyres, the speedo will still read correctly?

Yes, you can swap wheels easily, as you say, keep the rolling radius the same and the speedo will read the same.
