Crikey trikey, I bet I'd have to buy a lot of postage stamps to get that anywhere near that car. I don't want to tempt fate, though. Let's see what next week brings. If I am lucky enough to get a 75 there I expect I will be trying to get things sent occasionally.

Cheers,
Glenn

A bonnet swap is certainly easiest when you have a ready supply of replacement bonnets. The rust comes from a seam on the inner crease which seems to have not been sealed very well on certain cars. It will be a hole right through it, but as said it is unlikely to spread far. In Slovakia you dont see many 75’s at all, so freighting a bonnet in might be costly and you might be better getting a body shop to sort it.

I would ask your friend with the garage what the availability of paintshops is in your region. If he has personal knowledge of a good one then I would take that route. If not, i would wait for the next car to come along.

Bonnets dont travel well either, best option is usually to drive to where the donor car is, and swap it over on-site. I did that with my MUM zircon car. Not likely to be an option for you.

Thanks David. I am pretty confident I would be able to get a good repair done if need be. My friend does have contacts. There are some RHD 75's there, too, and it's only a matter of time before they start getting parted out, so maybe a replacement hood would come along. Probably wouldn't be the right colour, but that's why God invented paint!

If this one doesn't work out, there will be others, I'm sure.

Cheers,
Glenn

You made a good guess, Brian. We're about an hour NW of Halifax.

Replaced mine when it went the same way. I think this is a manufacturing defect that affects some bonnets.

Leave it long enough and it will probably end up looking like this;

That's a good one Mike, I haven't seen one that bad before.

The car certainly looked better after the swap Andy.

When these cars start to rust in one place, you'll find rust in all the common places, so make sure you check the rear sills just where the wheel arch starts.

I sprayed Dynax into all the recesses in my bonnet, just as a precaution
