Default Engine rattle

Hi,
Is it ok to run the engine with the vis motors removed?
Might help me identify/eliminate the source of the rattle.
Thanks, Mike.

Noooo Definately not!!

The engine may start but you will have a runaway situation as air will go in the manifold were the vis's should be and you will have a shock!

You may have a loose/disconected power valve butterfly rod. Remove front vis (power one) and see if the connecting rod can be lifted up and down verticaly, if so it is probably disconected allowing the butterflys to rattle open and closed.
It should be pulled to the drivers/offside to replace the vis, allowing the actuator dog to engage in the slot of the connecting rod

as clikernick has said, dont run it while the motors are out.
if there is vertical movement on the arm, the manifold is pretty much dead. ic can safely be run while rattling, it wont cause any damage, but economy will be effected, and it wont be producint maximum power
