MG letting another piece of history rot
I came across a YouTube video where someone went into longbridge (2019) where they found, abandoned (new) MGs and a very odd looking Rover 75!
It seems to be stretched like a limo. I have researched the plate and it’s untaxed and had no MOT since 2011 but is SORN. And it’s sitting, rotting in the back of a Longbridge car park. The interior looks poor, and it doesn’t look as if it’s moved for years. However I can’t see any rust. It’s not the first time MG SAIC have neglected MG Rover history, like when they attempted to scrap rare prototypes. Is there any hope for this car? Could the British motor museum add it to their collection and save it? I hope someone saves it. Here’s a screenshot from the video: Link to the video: https://youtu.be/OKy1disXfZI Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by Adam2003; 8th September 2020 at 18:51.. |

Hi Adam, it is indeed a shame that this example is left languishing. It is as you have suggested a limousine. There are a few examples about and there’s plenty of info on this site about them. From memory they were initially marketed as the Rover 75 Vanden Plas and converted by MacNellies a coach builder and converter of police carriers etc. I think subsequently the work was done in house (I maybe wrong) and they became the Rover 75 Limousine. It certainly should be saved

Registered as sorn and the pic is from 2019 so it’s maybe forgotten about, but I don’t think it’s gone. I might give MG Longbridge a call and see if they know anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Worth a try, but I wouldn’t think they would care about it tbh, they scrapped off a lot more interesting stuff off a few months ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Why do they have a Streetwise in their showroom? Are they trying to sell it?
... I want it. |
