Default Broke down M6

Hi, I have broken down on the M6 it has overheated. I am towing a caravan on my way to Wales, is there anyone in Wales who can have a look. I can't see anything other than no water, which I had tipped up before I left.

Sorry to hear of your troubles.

I hope someone is able to help you.

It might help if we knew roughly where on the M6 you are and where is Wales you are thinking of driving to.

The common leak points for the CDT are the thermostat housing seal, the O ring on the pipe going into the thermostat and the radiator top hose connection where it enters the cylinder head.

Thermostat is towards the rear and upper part of the engine inboard of the OSF wing, and the top hose connection is at the front of the engine under the acoustic panel to the right of centre.

Shine a torch into both areas and you should spot any leaks.

Good luck.

Sounds like expansion tank cap leaking. Do others agree?

Weird, filled with water and ran for 20 minutes. No leaks temp gauge up to halfway. AA reckon that when I topped up this morning I caused an airlock.

Check your bottom pulley is ok, this can stop the water pump turning and overheat you!

Very possibly could be. Overfilled with water can blow it back from the cap when it gets to temperature.

Is it a 140 cap?

If you are really stuck I'll come and tow you off the Motorway or home.

Regards

Paul

The MAX level is at the bottom of the bit you can see into with the cap off and only remove the cap when cold.
