Default Bonnet silly question

The part of the bonnet that goes into the catch with the spring on it, should that spring go up and down.

Silly question but i dont know the answer.

If by moves you mean compresses, then yes, that's why the bonnet "Pops" open

Could also be the catches(half moon) shapes in the slam panel holes aren't moving freely Slacken the bolts either side of the holes a little & lubricate the catches. Have someone pull the lever in the car & see if they move freely

Hi, I have taken the catches off and cleaned and greased them all up, they all work fine while the bonnet is open but as soon as I shut it nothing works.

So I am presuming the springs that are solid are catching on the catches and thats the problem, I will find out this afternoon.
