Default 75 Tourer Rear Light Cluster Seal

Hello, I have acquired a 2.0 V6 2004 Tourer and have started restoration work on it. I currently have a leak that appears to be from the rear light clusters. The boot side storage compartments are wet and I can see the water making its way into the boot.

Having looked around online, I can't find a specific gasket seal component for the Tourer light cluster. At first inspection I could not see a foam seal or similar on the cluster.

Does anyone have experience cleaning and resealing the rear light cluster on a Tourer and is there a specific part i can buy to act as the seal? There are plenty of gaskets on ebay for the saloon but nothing for the tourer. My fall back would be light use of silicone sealant but that will make future bulb changes difficult.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards, Tom

Thank you for the reply, Well that explains why I couldn't find a seal for the Tourer. Any advice on how to proceed? What would you recommend I do at the light cluster to stop water ingress?

Regards, Tom.

I have not read the thread suzublu has refereed too... well not today anyway.
My tourer is leaking on the left side rear side window and running down. It also has a leak on the right side but I have not yet been able to trace this.

If you find you need to strip out the rear interior of your Tourer, pm me your email address and I will send you a How To.

Default 75 Tourer Rear Light Cluster Seal

On my tourer it was water ingress via the external horizontal trim strip. It is mounted on the body via small holes and these should be sealed with mastic.

It will not be the tourer lights they do not leak, check other areas, like side mouldings, vents, welded seams at top of tail gate, glass tail gate rubber seal etc.

Many Thanks for all the posts, I'm getting a better idea of where to look. What is the process to remove the external horizontal chrome trim strip? Is it a simple case of teasing it off with a flat screw driver?

Don't try and remove the chrome strips, you'll break some clips which are hard to get hold of. Tackle from inside the car. remove inner lining and locate the clips. Seal from the inside. Good luck

There’s also a nut at the rearmost end of the strip so do not force off
