Noticed the cooling fan seemed mighty loud sat at some traffic lights this afternoon. Did the panic temperature check to find a steady 97C.
Checked on the drive, and the low speed activates as expected with the A/C but fairly quickly switches to high speed - guess it's either a bit low on refrigerant or the condenser has crumbled to the point where it doesn't like hot days. Now to decide if I bother replacing it... |

Not strictly mine but Mrs Noc's 75. Gave it an oil service, replaced all four bleed nipples and then changed the brake fluid. Two of the bleed screws were rusted solid so took some getting out, but with the new ones given a good coat of Copaslip and not overtightened, they should undo next time no problem.
Just need to change the ATF, polish the headlamps and job's a good 'un. |

Refitted the refurbished under fuel tank heat shield that fell off the ZT in protest at being parked in close proximity to a 75 V8 tourer
I then found my phone in the centre cubby where it's been since Monday That is all Brian |

Today I fitted the gold resistor as I noted I was still on the original silver one which was gubbed after noting the noise of the fan on full whack when the air con was on.
This is the 14th day if ownership and I have been working through bits and pieces as I go which have included: New badges Sort sunroof (blind & motor) Vax the interior (lovely broon water) Secured various trim items Quick refurb or headlights to get them suitable for driving with Straighten steering wheel Run down and treat rust spot at rear Repair vent Sort interior lights Sent IPK for delining etc Secure heat shield Sort wiper motor Clean out plenum drain Heat scuttle panel to regain some colour and replace clips and wiper blanks Paint calipers Replace rear back plates with the complete kit from dmgrs Remove dodgy carbon wrap from rear exhaust trim Fit high tone horn Sent for air con regas Dry out under rear seats Repair cupholder Sort drivers door card Replace reverse switch Sourced an fitted the missing OS scuttle panel section Fitted rear cup holders New wheel nuts Sourced puncture kit which goes with my full size spare Still a few more ‘niggles’ to rectify and on Monday it’s away in for paint correction and ceramic coating which will help it’s 15footer status the now. More bits on order and a big thanks to those that have done guides etc as they have been very useful with no nightmares....yet! Not just a ‘done today’ but felt like sharing Last edited by Maxfly; 27th June 2020 at 23:01.. |

Hi,after having my a/c serviced earlier, before the service had a slight squeal coming from that area so thinking it was a worn belt and they were badly cracked after I had replaced them approx 4 years ago,of course it didn't make a noise when the a/c man tested it,replaced both ancillary belts today and now have a continuous high pitched squeak coming from the compressor when it kicks in.Maybe the extra tightness of the new belt is too much for it.
Will be looking at it tomorrow, can the pulley be taken off and checked? Anyone else had the high pitched squeak and what if anything did they do to overcome it. Has anyone replaced one with a refurbished one and who from in case I need to go that route unless I can get a guaranteed used one. I have 2001 diesel variant. Most I've seen listed are for petrol variants,is there a difference? Regards Ryszard. |

Yesterday I fitted a new N/S front indicator to my facelift 75, as the old one's lens was cracked. Then I realised the O/S indicator lens was cloudy, so today I polished it with headlight restorer - much clearer now

Today was setup the handbrake time after fitting the new complete back plates the other day. Followed the guide on here with both wheels off and rear on axle stands. Got the wee fella to assist by holding a brolly for me seeing as it was bucketing down. Handbrake bites really well with nut adjusted to the 25mm but is a few clicks higher than it should be, this is fine though as I have ordered one of Arctics stainless compensators and that should give me a cracking handbrake
Tested cruise control after fitting replacement master switch but still no joy there so time to get hunting for pedal switches and go over the plugs etc beside fuse box I think. |
