I remember when i first installed it hearing like a ticking / pumping noise when the FBH was running that came from the back of the car.
though i haven't heard this since either when i briefly tried it earlier on, though i haven't had a good listen (like i said i live on a main road.

are they different pumps for cars with a FBH ??

Thanks....Dean
The FBH has it's own seperate fuel pump which is located under the car just in front of the offside rear wheel.

It's totally independant of the fuel system that supplies the engine.

The intank and underbonnet fuel pumps are the same for cars that are fitted with a FBH as those that aren't.

thanks for that Russ.

It might seem like a silly question, but does anyone know if there is a fuse at all for the fuel pumps in the back ???

I switched my FBH on this morning when i got up so the car would be warm, I could hear the part under the bonnet kick in etc.. and went in to have a cuppa until i was ready to go.

But when i got in the car and put the blower on it was cold as if it hadn't heated up.
( i still cannot here the pump for the FBH ticking at all like i could a few days ago)

I am sure the two are related, as they both worked fine up until yesterday when i changed that damn filter.

I think you will find the FBH pump should not tick, it is a pulsed unit I.E squirts the fuel rather that a standard type pump that gives a constant flow, but I do not know which fuse it would come under

I haven't no...
like i said all was and has been fine for the past 4-5 months, it all started with that damn PCV filter.
I wish i had left it be now...

Just found this though, from SMC
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=140203074239

Has been tested and works, would anyone recomend this as a stop gap for now ??
I don't really have the bottle to try the peugot pump route..

Is there any kind of discount with SMC for being a member here.
i.e free delivery or anything...

Thanks....Dean

FBH pump is completely independent powered directly from the FBH
only thing that would stop a working one would be the FBH itself or a fuel blockage.

Front and rear main pumps are wired in parallel via a single fuse

I think you have a classic dead in tank pump, the front one can struggle on for a while but the extra work seems to wear them out, Jules ripped one apart with worn internals

Sadly you need to check the rear and if it dead you need to either change both or fit the higher pressure Pug one and bypass the under bonnet one completely.

T4 or probably even using a DVM can show if one or both are failing by looking at the Low pressure sensor output whilst disconnecting the front pump.

Zero pressure would be bad!

It doesn't tick, but you can definitely hear it "pulsing" if you have the FBH on without the motor running and you are sat inside the car!

Ok, I set my FBH to come on after work tonight and it was waarm so that is ok, thank god.... one less thing to worry about.

I think you may be right, that the in tank pump has gone then..
will try get a meter on it after the weekend and make sure there is power there etc...

thanks....Dean

Keep the Fuel Tank over a quarter full,
you will be straining the Under bonnet fuel pump though so don't leave to long.

You should be able to hear the In tank pump running under the Back Seat.

I am just about to go and put a bit of fuel in there now, as it just got down to a quarter full tonight on the way home from work.

will try and have a listen to the seat while i'm out as its pretty quiet now.
