The "L" stands for Landrover.
The new sensors do look very different than the original one. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Update. She has been in to have the suspension looked at (quel horreur!) and has been on their diagnostic computer.
Apparently the fault is in the variable valve timing. Steve, the mechanic, thinks it is a very expensive job to fix. I asked if it might be the upper inlet manifold (the VIS motors aren't working ). He said he didn't think so, he thinks it is to do with the timing belts. Please can anyone shed any light? Big Russ, Brian? Thank you

Howie can you check with your mechanic what he means by variable valve timing? The VVC system, as far as I know, was only fitted to the four cylinder K Series.
He could, as you say, be confusing it with a variable intake system fault which your car will flag up. |

Just a suggestion, get a sensor from a scrappy, if the symptoms persist then it's probably not the sensor. if car starts fine, happy days.

Hi folks,
Keep in my I have not been up close and personal with one of these machines just yet. However, is it possible the wires that go into the plug/connector for the camshaft sensor have gotten hot/brittle and a wire has cracked? Or, if the plug is in a tight spot, could a wire in the plug have been pulled and is now making a poor/intermittent or no contact? That sort of thing is becoming more common on older machines these days. Cheers, Glenn
