Sizes (diamater) are the same - mounting intrusions will be different.

I am going to make a set of these for myself, PM me if you are interested and I will see how many Sets may be needed. I would have to make them all together as a one-off basically.

I will do both back and front. Once I take my door card off To see the size and thickness, I will have an idea of price. If I can keep it below £30 for all four ??? but will see when time permits.
Non standard speakers would be possible, but a whole different ballgame I think.

Anyone any idea of postage for somthing like this, light but bulky ?

Craig

The worst case scenario would be a courier - ~£7 via MyHermes for a 20*20*20cm 15KG package (Parcel2Go).

I agree but will check with PO.
Size will be 36mm x190.

What terrible looking speakers though ?

Default Work in progress

Oh well got one done today, using a slightly different method.
It fits well. Need 2 holes to secure and job done.
Results ?? Played with the balance controll on the DD with the fader on the front. There is a difference with the base and the loudness up, at higher volumes. But the speakers are so bad..., but it is less tinny.

Not to sound too negative - but it would sound a lot better if it sealed properly to the door.

EDIT - Although they way you've done it now is still a lot better than the plastic mounts

It does seal a bit better than it looks, as it is tappered further in.
As I say work in progress, so that can be done.

Question though-does one want speakers to seal ? or do they need pace for the air to move. My expensive Wharfdales are open at the back.
Anybody know more about this ?

They need to seal - they use the doors themselves as an enclosure.

Your speakers may be "open", but it's more than likely they have an enclosure and then a port.

Okay , I shall work on that, using foam rubber(window seal) may also work, especially around the wires for a perfect seal.

Thank you for your input, not negative at all

To be honest, it's not a massive issue - the doors are inherently "leaky" as they have large holes in them. However, it would be nice to have a good (not necessarily perfect) seal thee to help the enclosure - especially as I'd like to seal the doors up a bit better later on.

I wouldn't bother using window-seals etc - if the mount is close enough, the weatherseal (grey thing) will do the rest of the job.
