Okay guys:please suggest a free AV. I already have Superantispyware.
As far as I know, AVG Free doesn't come to an end - it's free on an ongoing basis?

Oh! mine was counting down for the last 30 days. I got to 5 days and replaced it with Norton.

Am I better off with AVG then?

(why can't we all go back to pen and paper? Or better still, bits of chalk and a slate. You know where you are with a bit of chalk).

EDIT
Ive been looking into Microsoft Security Essentials as recommended. Please excuse my ignorance in these things but, is it doing the same job as Norton, only quicker?

If so, I'm ready to install Microsoft Security Essentials and uninstall Norton.

mmmm - sounds like you may have installed the trial version of the paid-for AVG, which would have only a limited lifespan.
You can install, totally FOC, Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG Free and lots of other totally free anti-virus software, and they'll all do a similar job to Norton without hogging the memory on your PC.

Norton uninstalled.

Microsoft Security Essential installed.

It is now saying "Thanks for installing Microsoft Security Essentials. We recommend using the more secure Internet Explorer 11—now enhanced with MSN and Bing".

Should I install it??

Sorry for all the dumb questions guys.

Should i leave my Superanti Spyware and Malwarebyte installed?

PS: laptop noticeably quicker than when AVG was installed. Can't really comment on Norton: it was only on for a day.

It will do no harm to leave Superantispyware and Malwarebytes installed - they all do a slightly different jobs. Microsoft Security Essentials is primarily anti-virus software to stop nasties gettting onto your machine in the first place; Superantispyware is more about detecting, stopping and removing spying software which tracks what you are doing and Malwarebytes looks for software which is designed to to be really evil - compromising your computer, attempting to take control of it, searching for your passwords etc.
