Sit in the car engine off and pump the brake pedal.
Does the pedal become hard? A vacuum leak would result in a very high idle speed, so it's fairly safe to say the inlet manifold pipe is alright. So what does this leave? I'd say it's likely you have a brake fluid leak, and as Jon has pointed out the likelihood of the hydraulic seals in the master cylinder to be at fault is negligible, so I'd be checking the fixed pipework if in your position Brian |
