Question Sat Nav shutdown not working

I picked my new 75 up today, more of that on another thread I'll start soon. I'm wanting to charge the battery but the sat nav doesn't seem to want to shut down.

I opened the boot and bonnet, waited a couple of minutes (then I got too cold and locked the car up), but the red light was still flashing. It hasn't appeared in the menu and the car needed jump starting when I picked it up. Is it fubared or do I just need to wait longer

link below how to shut down....

everytime you open or close a door, or cause any activity on the K-Bus circuit, the shut down starts again....

If after 2 mins of inactivity it's still red then it's probably had it.

Take it out and remove the lower cover and look for signs of water damage.(Also a link below)

Thanks David,

When you say it's probably had it, I did look at other posts and they seem to suggest a permanent light on the unit not flashing. Am I reading this wrong and they just mean permanently flashing?

OK, thanks for the clarification. I'll try again tomorrow when it's warmer. If not I need to change the battery anyway so it will have to come off but I'll wait probable 10 mins

Nope, is just not having it. Tried a battery reset (off for 24h so should be enough time) but it still just continuously flashed. Disconnected the battery and removed the drive (no keys for this but toothpicks work surprisingly well), so I'll have a look at it tonight at work. There was some evidence of water damage to the underside and to two pins on the far bottom right of the red connector. Fingers crossed its salvageable

OK, I've cleaned the water damage up as best I can. Do I have to have the battery disconnected to refit it, is there a fuse I can just pull, or can I just to whack it back in regardless?

no you can just plug the two plugs in (and aerial connection)

Its the powering down that needs care
