I don't see a date on the technical brochure you've posted Paul, I wonder if the one that Steve has posted dated 2003 supercedes it.

The pictures within the later technical release do show a CARK91style of handset cradle, maybe MGR updated their proposed solution to enable newer handsets to be used, prior to settling on the bluetooth unit based on CARK 126 .

That could well be the case Jim, as the technical brochure is dated 1998, so an early document indeed.

As has been said, I don't think this was ever brought to market for our cars, but probably was in BMW form in their cars at the time

If the previous owner has all of the above hardware, then your car could well be a first but my money's on the generic Nokia car kit with mute lead if the handset you have is the Nokia 6310i
This early phone system was indeed identical to the BMW one, at least for the hiline setups, bar the wiring which was specific to our cars, as well as the specific armrest that would hold the cradle for the phones. There was another version for Symphony radios, the software for it was written in Gaydon, but both version got cancelled very early on and were only shown to some of the press before deletion. There is a photo I have of one of the early cars showing the specific armrest with cradle.

In any case, I would bet my money that the MGR system we're talking about here, has nothing to do with the early system that was cancelled during pre-production.

Well this photo is not of my personal collection, so I'd rather not share it over here without the owner's consent :-)

OK I got approval by Duncan, former Rover engineer at Gaydon who worked on this system, to post this picture that he provided initially, so here it is

If you have the highline system then it's a fairly simple job to fit the BMW ULF module, you'll also need an antenna, a microphone ( the BMW one fits straight into the Rover front courtesy light unit) and a BM54 radio. I know it works with an iphone 4S.

I've now been sent the two wiring harness's and the adaptor box which the orginal owner was given by the dealers for enabling the integration of the Nokia phone with the highline system, I've posted all the pictures to an on-line album:

https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/sred...hwE&feat=email

To recap, the original owner of the car was the manager at the Rover dealers where the car was a demonstrator / his Company car, on his retirement he bought the car and was given the hands free kit, but the items shown in the pictures were never fitted as he had to surrender his Company phone (Nokia 6310i) on leaving.
The previous owner has also sent me a further copy of the post-installation instructions which clearly show the hands free function integrated with the highline screen
