My retro fit seems to have hit the buffers and I am losing my hair fast.
I bought a Hi-Line unit that appears to have been upgraded from a mark II to a mark III as it still had the trimble bolted on top of the casing. It is definitely a mark III receiver I have double checked.
The television works fine, the radio is okay too, but the GPS is a problem.
In the service mode it states that I am receiving no satellite signals at all.
There is no readings of longitude and latitude and the GPS status shows ''RECERR''.
I have bought a new GPS aerial and the situation is still the same.
I also have no wheel sensor readings and the direction of travel only shows Forward. The Gyro though seems ok
I put an up to date CD in and it shows no satellite reception just the planet symbol ---- It gives the impression when you plumb a destination in that it is ok but when you call up the map it defaults to another map put in some time ago..
Can anyone take me through STEP BY STEP on how to proceed now?
I would grateful for any help whatsoever.

have you made the ABS connection, slate coloured wires, black 3 way plug, should be below the ashtray

A bit confusing.
If you definitely have a MK3 the Trimble is obsolete and must be disconnected.
The GPS antenna should now be connected to the back of the MK3.
As you say, step by step, can you please confirm.

as Hans says, if the CD drive has a coaxial connector on it, it's a MKIII or later so the trimble isn't required. Just put the GPS receiver lead straight on to the back of it

Hans and Greeners I really do appreciate your input and am totally reliant on your advice.
As I had just recently had a hip replacement and found it difficult to bend I asked a professional fitter in Norwich to run the loom to the front of the car and fit the board monitor in.
If I had done the job myself I would have been able to give you a catorgorical answer but sadly I can only take his word for it .... so the answer is I am not sure whether or not the ABS and the reverse units are connected.
I thought the chap had taken the seats out and run the loom through the centre consul but I found the black plastic trim by the drivers door loose so I assume he as gone under the dash.
If he has gone under the dash where abouts [approximately] would I locate the ABS and reverse switch connection?
I seem to be on the mend now and feel much more able to tackle the job.
If I find these two units are not connected [excuse my ignorance] would that
effect the zero results that I am get from the satellites.
Does all this make sense to you chaps?
I really do appreciate your advice ... The input is terrific ... That's what makes it a great club

Yes hans I have dismantled the trimble and only used the aerial and plug at the back of the mark IIII ...Leaving the other connections that went into the trimble unconnected

The issues ABS and GPS are totally unrelated.
Your diagnostics indicate NO satellites being received so either a bad antenna or a dead GPS receiver.
Easiest would be to swap the MK3 with a known working one.
I would be quite happy to check it out for you but off course there is the postage to consider.
You could also try to contact JohnDotCom to see if he can help.

I have a feeling that the Mark III is U/S do you think that
1] It can be repaired or
2] Would it be more beneficial to install a Mark IV and if so is it a straight swap?
