Default Which Tyres?

I’ve (literally) just bought my first Rover 75 - a replacement for a 600SE I’ve had since 2018. It’s a 2 litre petrol 2003 Connoisseur SE with 75k on the clock which I’d like to keep for a long time.
Just have a couple of things I’d be grateful for advice on
According to the handbook the correct tyres should be 215/55/16 but it has Nexen 195/65/16 on it at the moment. The rear tyres need replacement so should I stick with what’s on there or revert to what’s recommended and if I do any advice on the brand? I usually go for Dunlop for premium or Avon for mid range but I think the recommended brand is Continental.
Also as far as I can tell the cam belt hasn’t been changed yet so that’s top of the list for work to be done. Any ideas on a ballpark figure for the work?

Hello and welcome along, glad to have another local on board I would be going back to the recommended tyre size If I were you, but tyres are a very personal choice.

Cambelts you will be looking at £450 - £550 depending on what make you want fitting as there are three cambelts, the water pump and associated pulleys and tensioners.

There was a change of tyre size in Project Drive. From 13-7-2001, 205/65 to 195/65.

I have fitted 205/55/16. They are much cheaper than the 215/55/16. I generally fit nokian tyres. Perfect for this climate.
