Wet back seat ...and rust!
Hi,
I've had my 2002 75 Tourer off the road for a good few months due to me trying to wire up a tow bar (long story!!) I took the rear seat out to route the wiring and noticed a pool of water under the back seat. I'm going to work through the usual suspects, side vents, trim, tailgate seat, etc. Under the rear seat is a large diameter steel this tube on the right hand side, that goes from the front of the wheel tub and turn through 90 degrees into the seat base and is part of the body shell. What's it for? Mine has literally crumbled with rust on the under side. https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1Q...gzCDJIW1sLls1Y Thanks, Richard

Its basically trunking for the wiring that passes through it, water gets in via the wheel arch and it rots from the inside.

I filled the trunking on mine with high expanding foam then sealed the end of the trunking under the wheel arch with a sealer and cured the problem.

As above. Never had water under the seat but discovered the tubing rusted when replacing the in tank pump motor.

They changed the cover in the rear wheel arch for a shorter one and this allows water to get in.

Hi,
OK, so only a cable duct then. Only the top 2/3 is remaining, the bottom section has completely rotted away. As the "pipe" is effectively open, could this be the source of the swimming pool under my rear seats? Thanks, Rich

It could be the source, you can also replace the pipe/tube which ever you like to call it with some 2" washing machine outlet pipe if need be, also do you have a sunroof ?
