Default Two keys only one fob works?

Hi

Our recently purchased 75 came with 3 keys (one just for the boot lock)

Two keys work the door locks and ignition and both the little red led.

One key works remotely. The other doesn't.

Thinking the battery could be low I replaced the battery for a known good Duracell battery and still nothing. I've tried to re-sync the key in the hope it would work but not sure if I did it correctly.

I've done a search on the forum and found there to be a few different ways of syncing the key.

Could someone give a way to sync the fob? If the same key works in the door lock and starts the car, surely it's coded to the car?

Thanks in advance
Rob

Hi Rob

If the key opens the door and starts the car it doesn't necessarily mean the circuit board is working at all, as the 3 parts to the key are independent. You could even have a circuit board from a different car.

I'm not familiar with the "syncing" thing - can it be used to make any circuit board work with any car (maybe using the transponder as a reference to confirm)?

The remote doesn't work on my key (car owned 3 months) and the circuit board is a bit corroded. There's a guy on ebay (called pauulg) who does a repair service for £16. I tried him but he said the main chip had failed and he refunded me and sent the board back. He only needs the board which means you can still use your key as you have been doing. He might be worth a go once you have exhausted the "syncing" possiblities.

Thanks!

The board being from a different car could be a possibility, the sync thing from what I've read is if the key/car goes out of sync, the key can be re-sync'd to the car so it picks up the frequency and code? Not entirely sure but I've seen a few different posts but different ways of syncing.

Thanks for the eBay recommendation, I'll take a look into this. My worry is, if I lock the car using the remote on the working key and that key suddenly doesn't work for whatever reason, ifni use the key that doesn't have remote functions will I be able to drive the car and usable the alarm etc?

Thanks
Rob

To sync the key, press the button 4 times while in the ignition and in the first position. Make sure you have the transponder present, or it'll never start

I don't understand the one only opens the boot? They all should, unless that's the rare emergency key

Thanks, I'll give this a go then!

I think the boot lock may have been changed at some time in its life, for whatever reason. As if a previous owner perhaps had snapped the key in the boot lock or something and a secondhand boot lock and key were sourced and fitted.

Suzublu - if you take a board from another key and put it into yours (with your blade and transponder) can you then sync it to your own car using this method?
Thanks

No, you need the barcode from the original key and it needs coding by T4 as far as I know

As Suzublu says it won't work with a board from another key, but you can use another remote board, new or used and reprogramme it with Toaf, no barcode needed just the code on the sticker on the remote board. All can be done at home with no dismantling.

Regards

Thanks for the info supplied! Much appreciated as always.

Having just been outside with the wife's spare key and trying to get it to sync I can confirm it doesn't work with the car. (Bummer)

So.. looks like a visit to big Russ maybe in order in the not too distant future.

Now... Barcode from the original key, I have the "key card thing" from when the car was new. I can't say for sure if the key that fully works is the original or not as the shell and buttons have been replaced I believe.

Thanks
Rob
