Hi Rav.
Much as I like you, I do think that comment is a bit iffy. Many have paid good money here and have not received their goods and for all the blurb of UK service and warranties there are far to many issues to make a joke of it. I'm afraid that good old fashioned service has gone out the window these days and it is now showing up how bad it can be. I really hope this can be resolved and soon.

I know what you mean, Trevor. No offense towards you. Just trying to make light of a bad situation. This whole saga with certain traders is becoming all too common. I too have had my fair share of issues. In all seriousness, I do hope it all gets resolved for everyone’s sake!

Well I bought a second hand Star a while back and had a great morning with Jeff as he fitted it. I have no issues with Jeff at all - he has been exceptionally helpful to someone who is not technically competent in this area.
Now accepting that my Star was second hand we do have a few issues with it. T The start up logo cannot be changed from Rover - which is a shame as I have an MG. I did get a response from Sean but he only repeated what Jeff had already tried and so no I live with the Rover logo for a few seconds on start up. The radio reception is dire in built up areas The screen shows frequency not stations - the only station shown is the one you are on and that is minuscule. The sat nav works spasmodically. When it does it is very good - but how come my years old Tom Tom works perfectly well wherever you put it - as indeed does Google maps on my iPhone - but my Navell Star is spectacularly unreliable? I was going to fit a rear view camera - but now won’t bother as when it breaks it looks like it will now only be fit for the bin. My advice to myself and others is to not bother. Use a good stereo head set that are very good value now and a separate Tom Tom or equivalent. Cheaper, work better and transferable from car to car. |

Reading all that is going on it saddens me it has come to this. I have had 2 x original wince units from radio guy (couldnt see the need to upgrade thank goodness) and the unit in my current car has been really good but I wont bother if it breaks. I think the best install I have seen is the one using android tablets.
I suspect a lot of the chinese units suffer from power supply issues. A small drop in voltage will have an affect.

I bought a WinCe years ago...... then "upgraded" to a Naval Star.
Both worked ok..... The WinCe did play up when it was below 5 degrees outside.... but started normal functions when the car warmed up. Tha Naval worked perfectly and ..... as far as I know.....it still is. (I sold the car with it in) BUT........ I prefered the WinCe...... and have just bought a 2nd hand one again and it is working fine. I've had no problems myself with Sean, and definitely no problems with Jeff. I hope this is all worked out to everybodies satisfaction as I don't like seeing all the discord. |
