Computer Printer Error Surprised Me.
My Epson printer today suddenly stopped working and showed an error of E-91. It totally flummoxed me and I had to search online to find out what it meant, as I could find no way of clearing it.
It meant that the "waste ink pads" were full. Well that meant nothing to me and apparently there are pads that soak up "excess ink" in the lower part of the printer. I then found that, for a small fee, I could download a little bit of software to reset the printer, which is what I did. Once installed, ran it, and now the error has cleared and hopefully, I won't have a problem. Though, I realize that all I have done is to overide a safety feature to avoid waste ink from flowing out of the printer onto the floor - so I will now have to investigate further, much further. |

I seem to recall Which? had a bit of a tirade recently against inkjet printers that excessively go through cleaning cycles and waste noticeable amounts of ink in the process... onto the waste ink pads. Bear in mind the manufacturers make their money from the cartridges, not the printer...
Personally, colour laser printers and all-in-ones became cheap enough about 5 years ago to never consider an inkjet again. No problems with laser toner drying out when unused for a week or two!

From experience the chance of ink actually leaking is low.
To be on the safe side stand it on some absorbent paper or similar just in case.

Taken a few printers apart that have had the "waste ink counter full" cobblers and none of them even had any where near a full Felt pad , as thats all it is .. most had a felt pad the length of the printer and a stain at one end .. just another fraudulent way of the makers trying screw more money out of us as if they don't do it enough with ink cartridges ..
rant over .. C.

I've tried all the home ink filling kits which still lead to printing problems, so I switched over to HP about five years ago and have never looked back. I also opted into the HP Instant Ink program, the money I'm saving is astonishing. I have not had to perform a cleaning cycle, not once. I've never had any error codes, and the printer prints every single page with ease, no missing lines, no missing colours or blurred images. When buying an inkjet printer its best to buy HP or Canon, the ink heads are in the ink cartridge, so with every new cartridge comes a new ink-head. Epson have the ink-head as part of the printer, which is the main problem surrounding all their issues. There are always some good deals out there to be had regarding printers, but I have found the HP Instant Ink program to be the best deal by far. |

Hi.
My HP Photosmart 3200 printer is 11 years old. It has 6 cartridges and other than a couple of error messages due to me not shutting it down correctly on occasions its been great. It even has network capability.

No, you don't refill the cartridges, HP send you original HP replacement ink cartridges when you need them.
Your printer will order the cartridge's automatically before you run out of ink, then HP send you the replacement cartridges through the post direct to your door. Its one of the best money savers I have come across, there are four plans to choose from. Plan 1: 15 Pages each month FREE. Plan 2: 50 Pages each month £1.99. Plan 3: 100 Pages each month £3.49. Plan 4: 300 Pages each month £7.99. Unused pages are carried over to the next month. You can also buy additional pages if you run out, or upgrade or even downgrade your plan at any time. You must have an eligible printer to enrol though. |
